For gummy deposits, possibly best is acetone, but it will probably take the colour out of the pad, so perhaps alcohol as a poor contender. Really sad to have lost Bobby Caldwell. My favorite singer / songwriter and a wonderful legacy of alto soloists in his bands. It is the best place for a show in Seattle.

I have one in 7* and like it a lot. I think the sound is more complex and colorful than their HR* model, which I had for comparison. The HR* added kind of a buzz on top of everything that I didn’t like. If the Custom Dark feels stuffy to you, you’re probably using the wrong reed.The mute has lot of space inside, so your hands have room and it's easy to play all notes even palm and side keys. Space allow for more easy playing of bell low notes too. The mute looks nice with a cool shape, it's classy.
